WATCH: Young The Giant “Mind Over Matter” Music Video

Nearly six months after the release of their second album, Young The Giant debuted the music video for the album’s title track.  Lucky for YTG fans, the video doesn’t distract from the soaring anthem’s simple beauty (by the way, I would like Sameer Gadhia to sing the soundtrack to my life. His voice is pure perfection). Go ahead and give it a watch below! Young the Giant will be on the road through the fall, in support of their latest LP. You can check out tour dates and buy concert tickets here. And, as always, you can…

LIVE REVIEW: Innings Festival

The best part about music festivals is the wide variety of bands you get to see in one spot. Innings Festival was no exception. This was the first year for this festival in Tempe, Arizona and it could not have been more perfect. For those that have never been to Arizona in March, it is baseball fan heaven. Between the sporting events and the great weather, it is truly a destination for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors. Day one was a great introduction to the vibe the weekend would…

Music Cities: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Michigan is no stranger to music. Hitsville USA a.k.a. Motown was founded in Detroit. Plenty of Michigan rockers came from the mitten state: Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Diana Ross (The Supremes) Glen Frey (The Eagles), Iggy Pop, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Jack White, Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Grand Funk Railroad, The Romantics, Mike Posner, Sufjan Stevens, and the list goes on… While Detroit Rock City gets plenty of high praises for its music (thanks for the 1979 shout-out, KISS), a Western Michigan city is also making a way onto the…

WATCH: The Notionaries “Excited Eyes” Music Video

The Notionaries are a band straight out of the middle of the United States, not that you would know that from their sound. Where you would expect to find banjos and lilting vocals (that is probably the most stereotypical sentence I have ever typed) you will instead hear synthetic 80s pop instrumentals under an almost Young The Giant vocal. Though this is only their first single, having formed less than a year ago, they already know the lyrical path they want to follow. In another shocking turn of events, it…

STREAM: The Academic “Different”

For the past 5 years a little town in Ireland has been getting a lot of press because of a blonde kid with blue eyes. However, Niall Horan is not the only talented musician to come out of Mullingar. Earlier this week, alternative rock band, The Academic began streaming their debut single, “Different,” on Soundcloud. “Different” is super catchy combining all the best qualities from the current leaders of alt-rock into one song. From Craig Fitzgerald’s lead vocals taking on an almost Nick Petricca vibe circa WALK THE MOON’s self titled…
