LIVE REVIEW: Secret Someones, Wolf Gang, And Sir Sly Ignite Los Angeles

Nirvana may not be the greatest band of all time, or deserve a spot in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, but you have to admit. It’s pretty impressive when one of your favorite bands covers a legendary song. And does it right. To add a few extras as to why Brooklyn’s new found glory Secret Someones deserve the utmost respect for going balls to the walls, they covered Nirvana’s “Breed” at the El Rey in Los Angeles, Monday night. LIVE REVIEW: FYF – Los Angeles

What started out in 2004 as a punk-rock festival at The Echo, 18-year-old music promoter Sean Carlson, created “F Yeah Fest,” which was eventually moved to the L.A. Historic Park and re-named FYF. In addition to The Observatory‘s intimate venue in Costa Mesa and the more compact, run-down venue, Chain Reaction in Anaheim, (full of metal heads, straightedge kids, and moshers), the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine holds a special piece of my heart. Back in 2006 at Bamboozle Left, security was kind enough to pull me out of the front row, while all 5’4″ of…

LIVE REVIEW: Sea Wolf Serenades The Coach House Of Orange County

A very special performance by three exceptional artists serenaded those at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, last Thursday night. Walking through the door, there were new and old photos of artists who had previously performed, a rigid suitcase full of CDs, and bouncers who sat us at our table. It made me feel like I was sharing something special with these artists. All those stories of how musicians started in small bars played through my mind while observing everything around.
