Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready Talks New Album

In an interview with Bob and Groz of KIRORadio, Pearl Jam’ guitarist Mike McCready discussed the status of the band’s new album.  It would be their first since 2009’s Backspacer.  “It’s way better,” McCready said of the new music.  “We don’t have a date for it yet, but it’s going to be way better than Backspacer.  We’re mixing it right now…I’m not sure when it’s out, but it’ll be out someday.” Pearl Jam are playing Wrigley Field this summer.  There are rumors of a fall tour, but nothing has been…

Korn Release Trailer For New Album

 Nu-metal pioneers Korn have begun to work on the follow-up to 2011’s Path to Totality.  No title or release date has been given, but the new disc will be the first album since 2003’s Take a Look in the Mirror to feature guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. Hip-hop icons The Beastie Boys are in the midst of planning a “multidimensional” memoir.  In true Beasties fashion though, the memoir will be non-traditional according to The New York Times.  The group is interested in “challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience,” the publisher at the Spiegel & Grau said.  “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.” The group had been planning a memoir for a while, but it was put on hold due to member Adam “MCA” Yauch’s illness…

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler And Regine Chassagne Have Baby Boy

Win Butler and his wife (as well as Arcade Fire bandmate) have welcome a baby boy last weekend.  No name has been given, though the arrival was announced in an a-typical way: through Pastor Barry Mack, the pastor of Montreal’s St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Saint-Lambert.  Mack wrote the announcement in Le Journal de Montreal.  Mack’s word’s loosely translated into English (via Spinner) are: “It’s good to see that they are still together and they now have a baby. TV On the Radio Working On New Material

New York art-rockers TV on the Radio are working on new material, lead singer Tunde Adebimpe revealed to Spin.  “I’m not sure what’s gonna be out when,” Adebimpe said. “But there’s new stuff coming.”   However, that doesn’t necessarily mean a new album, which would be the band’s first since 2011’s Nine Types of Light.   “We’re sort of collecting material for a record,” Adebimpe admitted.  “But right now, we’re only thinking in terms of songs, smaller things we can put out regularly until an album seems possible.”

For the second weekend of Coachella, there’s been a major change.  Friday night’s original headliners The Stone Roses have been replaced by Blur.  No to worry though, the two acts have just swapped running order.   No official reason has been given, but crowd size is probably a good indication.  Blur played to a rather large and excited crowd, while The Stones Roses got a lukewarm reception.
