Charli XCX was a special guest on BBC’s Live Lounge, where she performed a cover of Taylor Swift‘s #1 hit and Grammy-nominated “Shake It Off”. The song has a Pop Punk feel to it that occasionally Charli XCX will showcase in her music, though not so much of late. She sped up the lyrics a bit and put her own spin on it to give the cover a more original feel.
You may remember Taylor Swift trademarking a bunch of phrases from her music (read about that here)? Well, Charli XCX was respectful enough to leave out “This sick beat” (™?) in her own version. Charli and Taylor seem to be on good terms, so this was a classy move by the singer as opposed to artists who have protested her trademarking.
You can check out the cover below the jump. Charli XCX will be touring Europe as the opening act for Katy Perry beginning February 16th. Her album Sucker is currently available for sale. To hear more music from Charli XCX, you can purchase a CD or buy concert tickets here.
