Compathy is an acoustic pop punk solo-project founded by New Hampshire-native and current Chicago transplant, Matt Campbell.
Through the project, Campbell released a new song titled “Cannon.” The track is a follow up to their debut EP, You Have No Home Here, which was released earlier this year.
Instead of taking the same approach as with You Have No Home Here, though, and tackling subjects like toxic relationships and heartache, “Cannon” sees Campbell pulling himself back and detailing what it’s like to move on with dignity.
“‘Cannon,’ is really about trying to move on using every coping mechanism you have, but there’s still that underlying urge to reach out to your ex-partner and make sure they’re okay, or just to talk to them because you miss them,” Campbell told On Stage Review.
“It definitely felt a little harder to write like this, and I almost feel self-conscious about laying it all out there in a song, but I think this is also the best Compathy song to date,” Campbell continued.
