Following Friday’s news that My Chemical Romance have broken up, former lead signer Gerard Way is looking to set some things straight. In a lengthy essay posted online, Way attempted to offer some explanations – albeit in an abstract and perhaps surrealistic way. (There were several mentions of a “doomsday device” that led to the split.) Still, Way concedes that when it’s over, it’s over and stressed that there was no animosity among the group’s members. Way closed his letter by stating: “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band – it is an idea.”
