Lorde’s “Royals” Banned In San Francisco During World Series

LordeWith Major League Baseball’s World Series beginning last night between the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals, San Francisco had already fired the first shot days ago involving indie singer Lorde.

One of Lorde’s most popular songs, “Royals”, has been banned on two San Francisco radio stations for the duration of the World Series. The World Series will draw to a close on October 29, should it last that long.

Lorde said she originally got inspiration for the lyrics from a 1976 photograph on the cover of Sports Illustrated featuring Royals’ player George Brett.

Currently, Lorde is in the process of writing her second studio album. Her single “Yellow Flicker Beat” will be featured in the soundtrack for the upcoming movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
