Although the internet has been buzzing since last night about New Found Glory’s so called hiatus after an interview with Jordan Pundik, Chad Gilbert quickly tweeted that what Pundik said was misconstrued and the band would not be taking a hiatus, but a 6 month break was possible. Check out an excerpt from the interview that sparked the hype, and Gilbert’s tweet below.
“I think we need to go away for a little bit,” explains Pundik, who’s in the process of opening a tattoo shop in Nashville. “We’ve been touring for a long time. I don’t think anybody’s in the headspace for writing a new record. We won’t go away completely; we’re still gonna be doing things here and there, probably some one-offs and things like that. But to be honest I don’t think we’ll have anything new out until 2014.” But, Pundik adds, he’s not worried about the band members straying apart during any kind of hiatus.
Oh, I’m completely confident we’ll be back,” he says. “We’ve done this before… the last time we had a long break was probably 2006 or 2007. A record runs its course and we take a break, and before long we’re ready to do something again.”
Hey @alterthepress! Don’t alter the press. Jordan didn’t use the word hiatus! We are taking time off that’s it. Maybe 6 months at most haha
