Los Angeles’s indie band Night Lights premiered a new track today. “An ode to the hopeless romantics out there,” “Gimme” is an ethereal slow dance hanging in the space between two people. The ending trails off like words on a nervous tongue; possibility lingers in the air.
Vocalist Mau says, “‘Gimme’ is one of the few story songs that we have so far. It’s about the anxiety of asking a girl out to dance — how sometimes fear makes you feel like you’re on a space adventure, where you’re separated by some sort of impossible distance/feat, and you have to figure out. In the end, gathering the courage to bridge the gap and face your fears allows you to make unforgettable memories.”
It’s been almost two years since Night Lights debuted with their first EP, Here We Come. Their second EP, Expectations, will be released in June.
