Nestled between Fort Worth and Dallas, in humble Grand Prairie, Texas, So What?! Music Festival provides an alternative twist to the busy spring break crowd.
The 9th annual So What?! Music Festival took place on Saturday and Sunday, March 19-20 at QuikTrip Park. Gates opened at 11 a.m. each morning, and fans were greeted with tents from over a handful organizations including Headliners, Plug Your Holes, Fireball Whiskey, Merch Now, and more.
Considering the festival was in during the hottest part of the year in Texas, fans were pleased to see that the region was in the middle of a cold front. With the weather peaking at 50°C, people were layered up in their coats, ready to listen to their favorite bands play their favorite songs.
For a while, Stage 1 was over ten minutes early, causing people to complain about missing the first few songs of a few sets. This issue got resolved quickly, as more and more bands were getting asked to play a song or two extra to make up for the time gap.
The festival saw some heartfelt emotions from all parties involved. Several groups, including Neck Deep and Soasin repeatedly expressed their unwavering gratitude towards the festival and their fans. On the other end, attendees and fans showed their gratitude towards the performing bands by waiting in line for meet-and-greets, telling them how much their music meant to them, and waiting at a stage for hours to make it to the front row.
The most amazing thing about So What?! Music Festival lies in its ability to remain relevant and on top of the latest music trends, while identifying a gap in the market, and recruiting a target demographic to fill it. This is the 9th year of the festival’s existence and, at this rate, there are bound to be several more.
