Last week, post-hardcore outfit The Used treated Boston to one hell of a performance. The crowd was enthused by the amount of early material they played, including their hits such as “The Taste of Ink,” The Bird and the Worm,” and “All That I’ve Got.” They even managed to play a small portion of legendary punk band Refused’s “New Noise” during their opener, “Maybe Memories.”
As the set came to a close, they took the stage for one interesting encore I didn’t see coming. They played a medley of songs from Rage Against the Machine, as well as a snippet of Nirvana’s massive hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” I think it’s safe to say that The Used has never sounded better, and is definitely holding strong as a leader in the alternative music scene.
