SXSW Fans & Vans Quickly Raise $20,000 For Car Crash Victims

3-17 SXSW Cares

This past Thursday, March 13, tragedy struck at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas: a suspected drunk driver, who was being pursued by the police, crashed into fans who were in line to see rapper Tyler, The Creator’s set for the House Of Vans showcase at the Mohawk. The incident left 2 people dead and another 23 injured.

Rising to action, SXSW created the SXSW Cares Fund. The money raised will help people affected by this tragic event as well as any those affected by others that may happen in the future. As of Friday, the fund had already raised $20,000 in donations in less than 24 hours, and you help that number to continue to increase by adding your own donation here.

In addition, all of the proceeds from Thursday’s sales at the Vans Villages at SXSW will go to the SXSW Cares Fund. And the proceeds from the sales of the four Vans Band Re-issue shoes on Vans’ website will go to help support everyone who was affected. You can get yourself a new pair of shoes and help others at the same time here.

SXSW is over now for this year, but you still have the chance to buy concert tickets here for Vans Warped Tour. And, even if you missed the festival, you can still purchase a CD from your favorite bands.
