Iconic UK Venue: Cockpit, Leeds To close.

After 20 years of delivering live music, the Cockpit in Leeds, UK has announced its closure. An official announcement was made earlier on the website today. The statement read “It is with great regret that we have to announce the permanent closure of the Cockpit. After 20 great years as an integral pillar of the Leeds music scene we have decided that it is no longer viable to deliver you the level of service you deserve with the building in it’s current condition.” Click here to read the full statement….

Amy Winehouse Tribute Statue Approved

While artist Scott Easton’s tribute statue to British pop-star Amy Winehouse originally received disapproval from the Camden Town Conservation Authority, there was a council meeting earlier this week that ended with overall approval of the statue. The statue, which is made of bronze and has Winehouse in a short dress with her famous beehive hairstyle, will be placed in a balcony of the Camden Roundhouse this September. Scott Easton has agreed to not have light shining on the statue at night in hopes of hindering the gathering of crowds.
