WATCH: Beyonce “Die With You”

Today marks the seventh anniversary of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and coincidentally a video was released on TIDAL, Jay-Z’s new streaming service. The song Beyoncé plays in the video, called “Die With You,” is a tribute to her husband. She sings the beautiful song while casually wearing a backward baseball hat and a Michael Jackson t-shirt. Check it out after the jump! The setting for the video is intimate, and Beyoncé glances at the camera a few times smiling while performing this heart felt song on a piano. At the end she…

GUEST BLOG: Tidal: So What Now?

Within a plethora of methods that we have to get music out, in a rather grandiose unveiling, Jay-Z announced Tidal. This is a streaming service that allows the consumer to stream lossless files and high-quality video for a $20 dollar fee. It’s also billed as the music service controlled by the musicians themselves, totting co-ownership from the likes of Alicia Keys, Arcade Fire, Beyonce, and Calvin Harris just to name a few. As I was viewing the press conference where many “A list” artists signed the declaration to the service,…

TIDAL: The Music Industry’s Biggest Lie

Major modern artists all the way from Alicia Keys to Jay Z have come together to release one of the first ever artist owned music platforms… or, so they say. “Jimi Hendrix once said, that music doesn’t lie,” Alicia Keys spoke at the podium for TIDAL’s launch video, and she’s right. Music doesn’t lie, but these musicians who have come together to be a face for the type of companies they state they are against? That is a lie, perhaps one of the biggest lies we have ever seen in the…

PLAYLIST: Growing Up Austin

Disclaimer: My Growing Up playlist might be the weirdest grouping of songs you have ever seen. Not to mention their release years just jump from early 2000’s to 1960’s to just last year. In truth, I am still growing up and have a lot of learning to do. However, I can tell you what songs and artists have influenced me the most. In case you were too lazy to scroll to the bottom of this page, my name is Austin Heath and I am an 18-year-old senior in high school….

LIVE REVIEW: Maroon 5 World Tour 2015

Maroon 5’s 2015 World Tour brings them back to Pittsburgh since their last visit in 2013. This time, they come with opening acts by Rozzi Crane and MAGIC!  It’s no surprise that the concert is sold out. Rozzi Crane appears as the first opening act. Her powerful voice and amazing stage presence is impressive for an up-and-coming musician. She tells us that this is her third tour with Maroon 5. She sings her original song “Crazy Ass Bitch,” and then transitions to a cover of “Flawless” by Beyoncé. Performing a familiar song gets us more warmed up to her, and we…

ALBUM REVIEW: 50 Shades of Grey Soundtrack Review

The 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack pulls off a mixture of old and new songs, creating a slow and sexy soundtrack that portrays how provocative and bewitching the movie is.  The album is full of well-known artists, including The Rolling Stones and their classic “Beast of Burden” and Beyoncé’s highly-anticipated “Crazy In Love (2014 Remix).” Please follow and like us:

The Grammys Happened

The Grammys. Every news source gets one post about them and here is ours (sarcasm included). I could bore you with the splendor of music’s greatest night but the simple truth is, it wasn’t. The once proud Grammys are following in the footsteps of award shows past and slowly becoming meaningless and quite frankly boring. Please follow and like us:

GUEST BLOG: Limitations Expanding Creative Possibilities

In the digital age of recording and editing, exciting possibilities have opened up that would have been almost impossible to achieve before. These options have lent themselves to new and exciting ways of creating music. When recording the drums for this record, I had issues capturing the kit as expansively as I wanted because I was limited to working with two channels in a room not optimal for recording. After many attempts and no success, I decided my only option was to think about the drums differently, which ultimately led…
