STREAM: Darkstar & Hayden Thorpe of Wild Beasts Cover “Temporary Secretary” by Paul McCartney

When I learned that this cover happened, I knew I had to cover it. I don’t really listen to Darkstar or Wild Beasts, but when I saw that they covered what could be Paul McCartney‘s worst track ever, “Temporary Secretary”, I had to see how it turned out. (For those musically adventurous, feel free to listen to McCartney’s original track here.) Hayden Thorpe, singer and instrumentalist of the indie-rock/pop band Wild Beasts joined forces with the electronic music group, Darkstar, and posted the song to Soundcloud two days ago. Keeping with the…

GUEST BLOG: Tour Advice For Playing A Foreign Country by Charming Liars

Shows in foreign countries can be hilarious examples of being lost in translation. You become used to waking up in a different city or state every day but when you start waking up in different countries things can become interesting. Time difference is your first hurdle, I try and counter this by never looking at the time ‘back home’ and try to acclimate to my current surroundings pretty quickly. That can’t be said about every member in my band. We played a show in Dublin, Ireland a few months back…

WATCH: Foo Fighters Play Secret UK Show Under Fake Name

The Foo Fighters recently played a secret show in Brighton, England–but instead of calling themselves the Foo Fighters, they played under the fake name “the Holy Shits.” They’ll be playing two more secret shows in the UK, so hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to be a part of them. Either way, check out a clip of them playing “White Limo”–along with the singer of a British Foo Fighters cover band–below, after the jump. And for more from the Foo Fighters, purchase a CD or buy concert tickets here. Please follow…

LIVE REVIEW: Morrissey, Boston, MA

Countless love affairs have been born in the low, sultry echoes of Morrissey’s croon. The ex-Smiths frontman and his poetic tales of despair have inspired everything from cartoons to off-Broadway plays, and even the relationship between Tom Hansen and Summer Finn in 500 Days of Summer. Above all though, Morrissey’s music has brought to the world an unbreakable sense of camaraderie and intimacy in a group of outcasts, loners and hopeless romantics often shunned by the mainstream. ALBUM REVIEW: Morning Parade ‘Pure Adulterated Joy’

There’s something about Steve Sparrow’s voice (and unique name too) that just sucks you in. Do yourself a favor: right now, before you even read the rest of my review for Morning Parade’s new album, Pure Adulterated Joy – the band of which Sparrow is lead vocalist for – go find a stream of a single off this album (or even a previous album) and just listen to it. Then try to tell me I’m wrong. Pure Adulterated Joy is full of energy through and through, even amidst the handful…

ALBUM REVIEW: Everafter ‘Everything Is One’

With their debut album, Everything Is One, East London-based band Everafter is entering the music industry with force – a high energy force that doesn’t disappoint. A dash of Green Day, Blink-182, and Weezer that provides an air of early 90s pop punk , plus my absolute favorite accent added to the mix (don’t deny it, you love the Brits as much as I do), Everafter is a blast from start to finish in their 12-song album.
