ALBUM REVIEW: Ray & Remora ‘1994’

It’s been twenty years since the nineties. It was a time before iPods, iPads, and iPhones. A time before Y2K, before the rise of indie, and before music got intimate with technology. Twenty years ago, musical trends were defined by a raw, alternative rock sound. Ray & Remora kindled this sound. ALBUM REVIEW: Desyre ‘Glamtron’

Glam Rock and the hard rock sounds of the 1980s typically referred to as “Hair Metal” have found a revival in the modern music scene starting in the mid-2000s and expanding into today’s music world.  One of the latest releases of these throw back sounds is Finland’s Desyre with their new album, appropriately titled Glamtron. Glamtron is a fun mix of synthesizers, djent riffs, and  singer, Mazi Bee, channeling Axl Rose without quite reaching that famous vocal range.  Overall the album has quality engineering work, with some nifty fade outs…

ALBUM REVIEW: Alter Bridge ‘Fortress’

The very definition of fortress is “any place of exceptional security.” In this, Alter Bridge stay true to the definition by sticking with their familiar hard rock sound throughout their long awaited fourth album, Fortress. The first track, “Cry of Achilles,” starts with an almost Latin guitar progression before morphing into the heavy guitar riffs that Alter Bridge is known for. Fans of “Ties That Bind” and “Isolation” will appreciate the next track, “Addicted to Pain,” which is also the first single off the new album. Please follow and like us:
