The 1975 frontman, Matt Healy, enters a room and goes about his daily routine alongside a seemingly dead body hunched over on a couch. An unseen crowd oo’s and ah’s in the background as Healy gets dressed. Maybe the sounds are the protagonist’s own thoughts? And then, the real music video starts. Chicago indie rock group, Valaska, released their third full-length album, Inchoate on June 14, and the results are incredible. With a sound reminiscent of Death Cab For Cutie‘s early work, the group’s newest album has a raw quality to it, with pushing instrumentals, intimate story-lines, and several poetic intricacies. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, Inchoate is an adjective which describes something that is “not completely formed or developed yet.” If this release is not completely developed, we can’t imagine how strong the band’s next release will be.
