ALBUM REVIEW: Papermoons ‘No Love’

Sometimes, a listener just clicks with an album. It’s like getting to know a person; you either mesh or you don’t, and that’s okay. We all have a type, be it the people we are typically friends with or typically date. However, there will always be that stereotype or person that we have a soft-spot for. Everyone knows me to be really into the alternative/pop-punk scene, and I am. But I have a place in my heart for indie/folk music. Automatically, Papermoons seemed to play into that with their album…

ALBUM REVIEW: Heartless Breakers ‘Prescription’

I’ve mentioned numerous times how nerve-wracking a debut EP can be for a band, and even for a listener. Will it be a good introduction? Will people like it? Will I like it? For Heartless Breakers, they come crashing in with all the confidence of a well-seasoned band. Starting off strong, “Daily Restraint” sets an energetic, Warped-Tour-esque tone, as well as establishing the “medical” symbolism of the EP. It seems to play into the monotony that can mess with your mind, with the feeling that you’re going crazy. The track…

ALBUM REVIEW: NGHBRS ‘Twenty One Rooms’

Summer is always an incredibly busy season for music, which makes it a busy time for those of us who review albums. In the last month or so, I have listened to countless albums, most of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. As I pressed play on NGHBRS’ Twenty One Rooms, I was ready to see where this fell in my summer soundtrack. Not surprisingly, I found myself enamored with the album; fascinated by it’s almost vintage sound, and the way it created a hot, dank, quiet summer-night drive in my…

Album Review: The Material ‘Everything I Want to Say’

In an industry that is, truthfully, dominated by males, it’s always fun to come across a girl-fronted band. Often when that happens, there are comparisons to Hayley Williams of Paramore, Amy Lee of Evanescence, et cetera. While comparisons as such are never a bad thing, no one could do that to The Material or its powerhouse vocalist Colleen D’Agostino. The band has a sound all t Please follow and like us:

The Skies Revolt “Making Moves” Album Review

The Skies Revolt head into their Making Moves series with “For Your Health,” which is catchy, with a bitter undertone. The song is easy to latch onto, as it’s slightly repetitive, but who can resist those verses or that built-up bridge? I know I can’t. It brings the song into a new dimension, especially when you add in the group vocals, which really make the track stand out. “Germaine Throws It Up” starts off with aggressive synth and raw vocals. The lyrics are unabashedly honest, claiming, “This is just…” for…

Track Review: Oceanics “The City”

It seems that 2012 has been dominated by cheerful tunes, no matter if the lyrics are happy or sad. “The City” by Oceanics is no exception. With the “LaLaLas” and the excitable guitar playing, it’s difficult to keep the smile off of your face. This track is excellent and very well made; not to mention, who can resist that slight Aussie twang? Pair that accent (yes, yes I do like Aussie accents, couldn’t you tell?) with the overall catchiness of the song and there’s an irresistible allure that pulls you…
