MY FIRST TIME: Counterfeit Culture

This is our first ever experience recording with a professional producer. We drove out to Lancaster, PA to work with Ricky Armellino. A few of our friends back in Jersey had recorded with him, and highly recommended going to Lancaster to have him do our first EP. So we get in touch with Ricky and set up our dates to record. When we first got out there, it’s all corn fields, cows, bulls, and farms along the Pennsylvania turnpike. We constantly joked, wondering if Ricky was actually Amish. But we…

MY FIRST TIME: Lilac Lungs

Hi! We are Lilac Lungs and we’re going to talk a little bit about our first time writing, recording, and then releasing a full length album. None of our members had ever been through the process of writing a full length album. Music has been apart of all four of our lives ever since we could remember, so it’s very interesting and weird that none of us had ever recorded a full length before. At the same time, none of us would’ve wanted to experience it with anybody else. All…

My First Time: Eidola

The first time I went to see a concert was in November of 2006. I had seen my friends play at local venues, but never anything more than 20 people in a garage. I grew up in a small town called Payson, Utah, which is about an hour south of Salt Lake City. Bands generally only stop in Salt Lake City, if they stop in Utah at all, so this was the first time I had the money for a ticket and the means to get to the venue. I was going to…

MY FIRST TIME: Soldiers Of A Wrong War

We released our first full length album in January 2011. That same year, in August, we were lucky enough to play as opening act for one of our favourite bands: Panic! At The Disco. We were literally melting because it was really hot outside, but we were also really pumped up because we had the chance to share the stage with one of the bands that we used to listen to a lot back then. We played in front of a really huge amount of people, it was absolutely amazing….

MY FIRST TIME: Jump For The Sails

The first music video any of us had ever been in was our very own. It was for the debut single “X Marks The Spot”. We had never shot a video before and while we were excited, we were all still very curious about the whole thing. We’d never shot any type of video other than from our phones and from old video cameras from the early 2000’s for fun. This was the first time we would be working with actual legit cameras, lighting and a story to follow. The…

MY FIRST TIME: Performing With A Respected Artist

I will never forget the nerves and adrenaline I got from singing with the talented and well known, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. I was lucky enough to perform three songs with him. Before the show, he pulled me aside and said, “Sing me one of your favorite songs, right now.” I was shocked and taken off guard and couldn’t believe I hadn’t prepared for this moment. MY FIRST TIME: Face Value

Our first split was with emo/acoustic artist, Chris Swartz, in the winter of 2015. He came to us with the idea of doing an acoustic split and we thought it would be a killer idea, being something we hadn’t done at the time. Plus there’s something warm and inviting about an acoustic song, especially in the dead cold of winter in Maryland. Please follow and like us:

MY FIRST TIME: Mike & Matt Gevaza – Continental Recording Studio

The first full length album that we recorded at Continental was the selftitled release from Brooklyn based indie rockers John Severin and the Quiet 1s. At the time we were at our gritty Van Dam Street location in LIC. Continental Recording Studio started in Greenpoint, NY in 2008, where we worked endless days and nights honing our craft. We eventually expanded to a location on Van Dam Street in Queens and eventually to our current location is just off of Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City. During the early 2010’s we were experimenting heavily with…

MY FIRST TIME: Table Talk

We’ve only been playing under this guise for about a year and a half now but in that time we’ve done two tours, four weekend runs, recorded and released a split, and recently released our first EP Table Talk. We decided early on that we were going to make an honest attempt and try to progress this band in the direction we want it to go. Writing played a huge role in advancing our passions as we really hadn’t played together for a very long time before deciding to write the record. Ryan had…

MY FIRST TIME: Commonweather

For our first self-titled EP, we were still feeling out the genre. Our previous bands were nothing like what we were trying do with Commonweather, so it was a really fun experience writing the new music. It was all very raw sounding and we definitely weren’t as “effect heavy” as we are now. We started writing it in January 2014 before we even announced we were a band, so we took our time with the release having no pressure. There’s a couple songs off of it that we still play today and they’re still some of my favorites we’ve ever written.  Please follow and like us:
