LIVE REVIEW: The Sick Tour w/ New Found Glory and Bayside

They say that seeing your favorite band from high school as an adult is a life changing experience. They’re not wrong. When I saw Bayside and New Found Glory on the same ticket, I screamed out loud. It was a pop-punk dream come true. Opening for them was William Ryan Key, that concert goers would recognize and the former frontman of Yellowcard. Key took to the stage with just himself and his guitar and played through his entire EP, Thirteen. He knew he couldn’t get off the stage without playing…

LIVE REVIEW: Son Lux and Kimbra

Son Lux and Kimbra hit the road for a quick 10-stop tour mid May, finishing up in California just this weekend. Both acts have recently released new albums, Son Lux’s fifth and Kimbra’s third. Both acts have an eclectic following, so it only made sense to team up for this tour. Son Lux, a trio of musicians who have deemed themselves “genre-less” played a hearty set of tunes that were met with clapping and cheers. It was evident that many concert attendees did not know the group, but based on…

LIVE REVIEW: TesseracT, Plini, Astronoid

If you ever want to see a diverse group of music fans all together, go to a TesseracT concert. From tweens to parents to couples to your stereotypical metal-head, the crowd was as unique as the sound coming off the stage. Astronoid opened up with heavy hitting drums, sick bass lines, and a trio of guitars. This five piece group certainly have a unique sound that they have coined as “Dream Trash”, which after hearing them play, I don’t disagree. Next up was Plini. Plini is a progressive rock artist…

PHOTOS: We Came As Romans at Kohl Fest, Reading, PA

I recently attended the 2017 Kohl Fest in Reading Pennsylvania, where I caught headliners We Came As Romans— and after a long day in the hot sun they were the perfect band to end the night. WCAR put on a explosive performance, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from them. Dave Stephens, one of their two vocalist kept the energy up in the room and never stopped moving on stage. At one point during their performance, Kyle Pavone, their second vocalist reached out into the sea of people to grab a Go…

Live Review & Photos: The Shelters At The Starline, Oakland, CA

The weather and traffic battled it out for which would be worse last Thursday evening during my drive to Oakland, CA. The traffic won. Luckily I gave myself enough time to arrive, grab a bite to eat, and catch the start of the show. The Starline Social Club is a historic building dating back to 1893. Once a ballroom, it now houses a restaurant and bar downstairs, and an ample sized room upstairs. Complete with original wood floors, booth seating, another bar, and tin ceiling tiles, the vintage room was a…

LIVE REVIEW & PHOTOS: Assuming We Survive, Colorado Springs, CO

“I once dropped off my daughter at school in our tour bus, and she was embarrassed!” lead singer of Assuming We Survive, Adrian Estrella told my dad and I, to which my father responded with, “Well of course, dads are supposed to embarrass their kids!” It seems a little cheesy and awkward to have your parent hanging out with you when you’re trying to be cool around the lead singer of your favorite band, but that’s where I was on Sunday night. Please follow and like us:

LIVE/PHOTO REVIEW: Charming Liars, Sacramento, CA

Sacramento has a new-ish venue called Ace of Spades, just on the outskirts of the downtown, state capital. Set among both residential and commercial buildings, this club was the site of the L.A. band Charming Liars‘ support set to Night Riots and veteran act Blaqk Audio last Saturday night. As I stood in line for will call I overheard many show-goers asking each other if they knew of the opening band, Charming Liars. Answers came as shrugs in the negative. After the band took to the stage, though, much of…
