UNSIGNED SPOTLIGHT: Laska

Blending a multitude of genres into your music can be either a blessing or a curse. Sometimes the end result is a mess with no identity, or the band isn’t quite comfortable with any one sound, or the music comes out great but can have difficulty reaching new fans. For Minnesota/Wisconsin-based sextet Laska, however, their mix of folk rock, alt-rock, Americana and soul is the kind of sound some artists strive for a decade or more to create. And their debut album, titled Ceiling Zero, is a blessing in every…

Earlier this year, Radiohead announced their first live shows in four years. Yesterday, they announced a slew of separate dates for a world tour, with only four shows in the United States (two at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, two at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles). Along with the announcement was a new piece of artwork (pictured left), leaving people to speculate whether Radiohead are getting ready to release a new album. It’s not only cause they’re some of the most laid back and nice guys around, which they are, they’re also incredibly talented. A little about the band: made up of brothers Greg and Dan Neal, and members Roger Lambert, &…

GUEST BLOG: On The Current State Of Rock, Los Angeles, And Being Who You Are

When I was asked to write a guest blog for Infectious Magazine, countless ideas came to mind. In the end, I decided I’d really like to shed some light on how we feel about the music industry and the scene of today. When I tell people I’m a musician it’s hard not to get pulled into a conversation about the business, its downfall, disgust for pop music, over-saturation, and these are just a few topics. Where is the optimism? I think the new ‘age’ of music (like everything else) has…

PLAYLIST: Growing Up Ari (Ariella)

Hey! My name is Ariella Laichas-Malamud. I have been with Infectious since April and have loved every minute of it. My parents started me on Woody Guthrie and Peter, Paul & Mary before I was even old enough to talk. My music tastes change every day, but my favorite band will always be The Script….
