My Chemical Romance’s ‘Danger Days’ Certified Gold

Sometimes, accomplishments happen when we least expect it. While the members of My Chemical Romance are all pursuing separate projects since calling it a day, their name lives on. My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way shared on Instagram that their final album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, has been certified Gold by the RIAA. All Time Low‘s 2007 single “Dear Maria, Count Me In” has been certified platinum by the RIAA Gold & Platinum Awards Program with over 1,000,000 units sold. Yes, you read right. RIAA: Redefining Gold And Platinum Certifications To Include Streams

Exciting news today for artists of the twenty first century. The Recording Industry Association of America has announced a change in their criteria for gold and platinum albums. Now, the RIAA will include streams on platforms such as Spotify, Youtube, Rhapsody and more as criteria for records reaching gold and platinum status. Every 100 streams will count as one digital download, marking the first time in over 55 years that a non-sale will weigh in the bands favor.
