I’ll admit it; my age has put me at a fault here. I’d love to say I’m a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins, but I’m too young to really say so. (Also I’ve never heard them called The Smashing Pumpkins, just Smashing Pumpkins. It’s a bit weird with the “the”. Anyway…) They’re a band whose hits have stuck around, but for he majority of the public that’s all they know. You could play “Today” or “1979” and anyone around my age would nod and say, “oh yeah, I’ve totally heard this song before.”
So it was sort of a surprise for me that The Smashing Pumpkins released a new album at the end of last year Monuments of an Elegy, which has been met with mostly positive reviews. The band played their latest single off the album “Drum + Fife” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, watch the performance here, and make the jump to watch the official music video for the song.
Also, The Smashing Pumpkins are headed out on a tour this summer with none other than Marliyn Manson. That lineup is bound to make one heck of a concert. Check out tour dates on their website, here. (Their website has one of the strangest layouts, ever by the way.)
