This week’s Unsigned Spotlight takes us over to Lincoln, Nebraska alt-rock quintet After Arizona. Tinged with the classic grittiness of Midwestern rock & roll and the heart-on-your-sleeve honesty of modern emo, After Arizona have formed a sound listeners won’t forget anytime soon.
Listening to the band’s 2016 single “I Can’t Do This On My Own” (watch the lyric video below!), you’re equally amazed at how refined the band’s sound already is and excited at what future releases will bring. This song is a fast-paced banger with lyrics that deal in lamenting past mistakes while realizing it’s okay to reach out to others for help through life’s darkest moments. It’s a deeply moving message and you can’t help but sing along while blasting the chorus: “Won’t somebody come and show me/who I am today/cause right now I’m so afraid/and I’m stuck inside these prison walls that just won’t go away.”
While the band may be light on recorded music at the moment, they’re constantly dazzling crowds at live shows from Lincoln to Omaha and are sure to expand even further in the near future. Give them a listen or ten below and follow After Arizona on social media to keep up with future live show dates!
