When you come across a band that has it, you just feel it. You know what I’m talking about. Their lyrics hit you hard, their melodies seem to course through your veins, and collectively, their songs move you in a way that maybe you’d forgotten you could be moved. They energize you, inspire you, and make you want to hit “repeat” on a song 100 times over.
By now you might have guessed that for me, Cardinals is just this band, and their new lyric video for “Breathe” is a song that I simply can’t get enough of. Coming from a collection of 8 singles they’ll be releasing monthly, “Breathe” (and the rest of their collection for that matter) is a must listen.
“‘Breathe” was one of the first songs we wrote for this record, and it pretty much defines the mood shift in our sound, which is much darker now. I go through a lot of ups and downs emotionally, and when CJ and I started having writing sessions again I was reflecting on a recent down. He started playing the verse and I just thought ‘yes, this is everything I needed to hear right now.'” explains vocalist Emily Ronna.
Check out the video created by Zachary Anzalone below, and if you’re lucky enough to be in NJ, you can catch the band May 12th at the Asbury Park Yacht Club or May 31st at the Asbury Park Brewery.
