Julian Casablancas, lead singer of The Strokes recently started a new band. The band, called Julian Casablancas+The Voidz, premiered their first single, “Human Sadness,” last week. Yesterday they released their first music video for their song “Where No Eagles Fly.” These are both songs from the band’s debut album, Tyranny, set to come out September 26 via Casablancas’ own label, Cult Records. “Human Sadness” is very experimental and 11 minutes long, however, there are hints of The Strokes signature sound in “Where No Eagles Fly.” Casablancas has does solo project in the past, but says that this band is completely different from any of his past endeavors.
Just because Casablancas created The Voidz does not mean The Strokes are anywhere near finished. You should watch for announcements of their new shows as they are returning to performing throughout the year.
You can purchase a CD or buy concert tickets here.
Listen to “Human Sadness” and watch “Where No Eagles Fly” after the jump and let us know what you think of this experimental sound!
