Yesterday we told you that The Wonder Years had announced and revealed the cover art for their brand new album No Closer To Heaven, due out September 4th, via Hopeless Records.
Well last night at midnight, the band released the video for the first single titled “Cardinals.” In the video, lead singer Dan “Soupy” Campbell is seen struggling to carry an unresponsive and dripping wet Mike Kennedy (the band’s drummer) down a street in a deserted suburban neighborhood. As the video progresses, you see the other members of the band in the background looking upon the situation. Towards the end, the camera angle changes, and you see Campbell is trying to get Kennedy to an ambulance. Unfortunately, the ambulance doesn’t stop and drives away without Kennedy. It’s some pretty intense and heartbreaking stuff, but isn’t that pretty much expected from The Wonder Years?
You can check out the video for yourself after the jump!
Along with the release of the new video and song, the band also made a ton of pre-order bundles available. Bundles can include everything from vinyl LPs, t-shirts, posters, shirts, and even notebooks. Check out all your options here.

The band is playing the entirety of this year’s Warped Tour, so to see them live (and hopefully they’ll play this song) you can buy concert tickets here.
