Where Are They Now: My Chemical Romance

MCRThe first time I saw My Chemical Romance live, they were opening up for Blink 182 and I almost missed them.  Not by accident either, I was going to skip their show on purpose.

MCR had been labeled a so-called emo band, and I didn’t think they would peak my interest at all.  I planned on just showing up late after they’d finished their set and see Blink without delay.  Luckily, one of my fellow rock fanatic friends told me if I didn’t see them live, I would regret it.  Boy was she right.

What neither of us new at the time, however, was that shortly after that show, My Chemical Romance would no longer exist.  I am forever grateful to that friend for dragging my butt to the opener that night.  MCR put on an amazing performance!

My Chemical Romance was formed in 2001 and stuck around until 2013.  I am happy to announce, that even though MCR may not technically still be around, the band members are still alive and kickin’.

Since breaking up in 2013, MCR has actually recently had another CD released.  They released a Greatest Hits album, May Death Never Stop You, in March of 2014 and included all of the awesomeness that is My Chemical Romance.  As far as the individual members go, they do not appear to be keeping quiet either.

When My Chemical Romance tragically split in 2013, the final members of the band were Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, and James Dewees.  Since the break up, lead singer Gerard Way has released several solo demos, as well as a brand new album which just hit shelves in October. Toro has also released demos as well and is also working on solo projects.  As far as the other members, Iero and Dewees formed an electronic band and have produced a couple of tracks.  Mikey Way has announced that he is in a new band as well.

All of this action is great news for My Chemical Romance fans everywhere.  While they may not be together any longer, just the fact that the members of this iconic band are still making music is a huge step in the right direction.  I know I speak on behalf of MCR fans all around the globe when I say that we cannot wait to see what they come up with next!
