World Cup Playlist: The Group Stages Are Over

online-sportsbooks-favor-brazil-world-cup-trophy-in-2014We have finally come to the end of the group stages and with the final 16 elimination round about to begin. I have decided to put the group stages. Considering that music is amazing and can express a wide variety of emotions; it is only fitting that I use a ten song playlist to summarize some of the highs and lows of the group stages. The group stages of the Word Cup led to several shocking occurrences such as Spain being eliminated or Suarez developing a taste for human flesh. Sit back and enjoy the following playlist after the jump.

Queen – “Another One Bites the Dust”

This goes out to Spain, Portugal and Italy, who were all brutally defeated at times within the group stages. With those losses, soccer giants do actually end up biting the dust as they’re eliminated from the World Cup and lose their chance to attempt to compete for that glorious title of “Best Soccer Team.”

Imagine Dragons – “On Top of the World”

The final 16 teams must be ecstatic to be where they are now. Especially the USA considering that they got in on the technicality of goal difference. They must be really happen with the Germans, for once.

Nine Inch Nails – “Hurt”

Spain lost to Netherlands 5 – 1 and Portugal was steam-rolled by Germany to a 4 – 0 loss. Both teams are probably heading home feel quite hurt and potentially even just leaving an empire of dirt to the nation, or maybe the nation is leaving the empire of dirt that is there soccer team.

A Day To Remember – “Violence (Enough is Enough)”

Soccer is apparently not meant to be a violent game yet the past two weeks have been filled with headbutt, red cards, yellow cards, injuries and a biting. Play soccer they said. It isn’t violent they said.

Woodstock Mafia – “Where We Gonna Go”

The amount of defensive lines that had no idea where to go was astounding. I can’t remember if Spain even had a defense. I’m sure I saw a few defenders on the field during the Portugal – Germany game but I think they were getting a cup of tea. I beleive the Italian defenders were being sampled Suarez.

Nelly Furtado – “Maneater”

This one if for you, Suarez.

Silverstein – “Apologize (Its Too Late)”

How every losing team feels about each other. The original wasn’t angry enough so I opted for the heavier Silverstein version because they’re probably beyond angry as well.

Linkin Park – “In the End”

This could be a principle that any loosing team should adopt. In the end it doesn’t even matter because at least you’re loosing now and not in the finals. That would be even worse. Ask Netherlands, they held a grudge for four years and then decimated Spain, the team that beat the, in 2010.

We Came As Romans – “Hope”

This one is an inspirational one for all the teams in the final 16. Especially the underdogs, there is hope for you to win because you won’t die from a bite wound due to Suarez being banned!

Twenty One Pilots – “Migraine”

This one is for all the fans who stayed up late to watch the games and got headaches from screaming for their teams. We’re not done yet, my friends.
