Lead singer of the bands AFI, BLAQK AUDIO and XTRMST is adding another role to his long list of credits. He will now be co-producing and acting in an independent film called The Violent. It is unknown what his role in the film will be at this point, but it’s sure to be a must see. A crowd-funding account was set up for the film through Indiegogo and $22,710 was raised for production. Though the crowd-funding account is now closed, you can see Havok talking about the film and the process below.
This is not Havok’s first time being involved in a film. He had a role in 2012’s Knife Fight starring Rob Lowe and Jamie Chung as well as other small film credits along the way. Besides being an accomplished rock star, he’s seen success with his first published book, Pop Kids, which you can purchase here.
Havok’s next endeavor, The Violent will be set in the mid 90’s and focus on a close group of high school punks and skins. It will chronicle one student’s last year of high school and the challenges he faces as he is drawn into acts of violence and crime. Kelly Jones and Clint Carney will direct the film, with Carney producing and Havok co-producing. Havok is currently on the road with AFI after the release of the band’s newest album, Burials.
