STREAM: McCafferty “Top Hat”

McCafferty are notorious for sporadically releasing new music before disappearing from the face of the earth until they are ready to release more.
The band, who claim inspiration from The Front Bottoms, are back again with their first song since their well-received album, Beachboy in 2014. Check out the new song titled “Top Hat” below the jump and let us know what you think of it in the comments section.
The new track starts off with vocalist Nick Hartkop belting out, Your room is dark, my head is spinning, they said she is dead, I don’t remember that. That’s okay, I’ll run away. I’ll do my time. You will remember me. The track is a lot slower and quieter than most McCafferty songs but their poignant lyricism and writing style are still evident.
According to the group’s Bandcamp account, they are planning on releasing a follow-up full length album titled Beachboy 2. Unfortunately, McCafferty are still absent from social media accounts and are relying on their music community to spread the word.
To hear more from the band, you can check out their full-length album on Spotify. You can purchase a CD here.
