LIVE Review: Justin Courtney Pierre

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who hates the term ‘frontman’ any more than Justin Courtney Pierre does. That being said, you’d also be hard pressed to find a more genuine front man than the perfectly disheveled Pierre. Regardless if fans had attended the show to catch another glimpse of Pierre singing familiar Motion City Soundtrack tunes, or were there to hear his debut solo record live, they left the Detroit show at The Shelter Nov. 2 entertained. Frontmen can be cocky — it’s almost expected. They can be…

Rival Summers To Drop New EP “Undeniable”

Remember boy bands? The swooning you felt every time Backstreet Boys (or N’Sync, if that was your thing) came on the radio? That’s the first thing I think of as I tune in to the latest release by Detroit pop duo Rival Summers, made up of Leo Bautista and Sam Ridgell. With breathy vocals reminiscent of early Copeland, this duo are releasing honest, uplifting, positively inspiring music that you just can’t help but sway to. ALBUM REVIEW: Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas ‘Secret Evil’

Case in point: Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas. This quartet from Detroit incorporates a jumble of sounds that makes for an incredibly fun and exciting listen on their debut album,…

“Grimy”, “Off The Radar”, “Bankrupt”.  These may be some of the first words that pop into your head when you think of Detroit. What’s the appeal to playing there?
