WATCH: Dashboard Confessional “Drain You” Nirvana Cover

At recent show in Indianapolis, the recently active Dashboard Confessional performed a pretty solid cover of Nirvana’s “Drain You” to the lamest crowd ever. Despite their tourmates, Third Eye Blind, forming at the height of the grunge scene, it seems like all but one orange polo bearing man seemed to have listened to Nevermind past “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” It’s okay, Indiana. I guess you’re just not into angsty rock music. Take a look at a fan-shot clip of the mayhem below. Want to join the fun? Both bands will be sharing…

Paul McCartney to Play with Former Nirvana Members at Sandy Benefit?

The list of performers for tonight’s Hurricane Sandy Benefit at Madison Square Garden keeps growing.  And naturally, the show will also include lots of one-off collaborations.  The strangest might be reports that Paul McCartney will be fronting famed grunge band Nirvana. McCartney will apparently take the place of lead singer Kurt Cobain tonight when drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic take the stage.  Oddly, at first the former Beatle didn’t quite know he was once again part of history in the making.  He told The Sun: I didn’t really know…

DVD REVIEW: The Dirties

The Dirties is a movie that, for the lack of a better analogy, punches you in the face  and demands your attention. It’s a film that is kind of hard to completely understand and appreciate with just one watch, so that probably explains why I’ve watched it close to a gazillion times. The Dirties is an independent film by Canadian filmmaker Matt Johnson, and it chronicles the life of two best friends who are constantly bullied and then plot revenge against those who have bullied them. The three-disc special limited…

‘The Dirties’ Releases Limited Edition DVD & Blu-Ray

There is just something about The Dirties. Maybe it’s my longtime admiration of director Matt Johnson’s first (and most hilarious) project, Nirvana The Band The Show, and those same filming elements I notice seeping into The Dirties. Maybe it’s the brilliant way in which Johnson and his team tell the story of bullying, which most all of us can relate to. Or maybe it’s the dynamic friendship between Johnson and Owen Williams that you can’t help but identify with. Please follow and like us:

6 Must-Watch Indie Directors

Here’s a secret about yours truly: I’m obsessed with films… and that’s also a huge understatement. While I have nothing against the big blockbusters that seem to have taken over modern cinema (I could watch Marvel’s films for days), the film fanatic in me has been known to watch a wide variety of films and has the DVD collection to prove it – ringing it at over 400+ DVDs, excluding my television series collection. I get plenty of gruff about that from my parents. Of the films I’ve seen and…
