ALBUM REVIEW: The Technicolors – ‘Ultraviolet Disguise’ EP

There is a certain charm to bands whose music feels just a little bit out of their time, and that is exactly what Phoenix-based rock band, The Technicolors, managed to do in their five-track EP, Ultraviolet Disguise. The band weren’t so much trying to bring one specific sound to the release but instead pulled from a diverse array of influences both past and present to create something that sounds old while still having a feeling of newness. The result, which claims influence from the New Millennium’s garage rock scene and…

INTERVIEW: Brennan Smiley Of The Technicolors

Returning to your roots is usually a theme for many musicians. Either going back to the musical style you first began with or just recreating the process you once had in order to make music. In an acoustic setting, the listener can really tell where the backbone of the song is and the intricacy of the song itself. I got a chance to sit down with Brennan Smiley, frontman of Brit-style rock band The Technicolors, before their acoustic set on The Long and Winding Roadshow in Scottsdale at Pub Rock. Smiley…

WATCH: Mayday Parade Release Music Video for “Letting Go”

Floridian emo favorites Mayday Parade, just made their presence known with the release of a new music video for the track “Letting Go” from their latest album release, Black Lines. The video for the single showcases the ever powerful vocals of frontman Derek Sanders, but also displays an emotional tone to the visuals. With lyrics such as “If you’re letting go, let me go slowly.” definitely paints an emotional picture about lost love and even life changes and decisions, but nevertheless gives us the feeling that we love with every Mayday Parade song. Mayday Parade are currently finishing up…

LIVE REVIEW: The American Candy Tour – The Beacham, Orlando, FL

The American Candy Tour played its final night at The Beacham in Orlando, Florida, and for me, it was a night of nostalgia. Let me explain. I’m 17 and seeing a group of boys with emo haircuts and tight jeans performing a bunch of catchy pop tunes and an Akon cover in front of a sold out amphitheater. Fast forward six years.  I’m 23 and seeing a group of boys with slightly better haircuts and tight jeans performing a bunch of rather catchy, but pretty sad pop punk tunes in…
