About us

Why you can trust us?

When it comes to information on the Internet, trust is paramount. There are simply too many studies, too many data points, and too many facets of disease and wellness.

It’s impossible for one person alone to analyze and make sense of all this information.

That said, we don’t want you to trust us just because we tell you to. Trust has to be earned. We want to earn your trust by emphasizing objectivity and transparency. Our content is rigorously referenced, and not just quoted in the way that is common on the Internet to support a particular argument. Rather, we cite both sides of important issues and do not go beyond what studies actually report (in other words, we do not over-interpret results to support a particular point of view).

We are able to do this because all of our research staff are required to have no affiliations with dietary supplement or food manufacturers, and because staff meet regularly to discuss research ethics and study interpretation.

100% Independent

.
When it comes to this magazine, what you see is what you get.

Our basic credo is that we are 100% independent. No one who works here has a conflict of interest – no questionable funding, no suspicious affiliations, and no relationships with manufacturers. All content is created by our staff, not outsiders.

We are the Switzerland of information gathering.

100% transparent and referenced

.
Every statement we make is fully referenced – often many times over. This website consists of hundreds of thousands of published words, and with over 1,000 unique references, individual assertions are cited.

We don’t believe in a “just trust us” mentality – we log our work.

Science is hard – we don’t pretend to have all the answers

.
If there’s one thing that sets us apart from gurus, it’s that we don’t have universal answers.

Admittedly, that can be frustrating. But science is incredibly detailed and diverse. Most studies are done on very specific subsets of populations-for example, 20 post-menopausal women who have arthritis. The question is: How do you take a conclusion from a group like that and apply it to the entire population?

That’s what makes us reliable – we don’t claim to have the only solution for you. Instead, we simply offer what the science tells us and help you make the best decision for you.

We also have editorial guidelines that outline our approach to content creation and troubleshooting.
